Red Cafe Memorial Bike
It is finished, or,at least, the most finished to this date. The custom German coin holders on the passenger footpeg mounts and ignition lock, the machined axles, fender mounts, plugs, brackets, horns, speedo mount, brake stays, etc., are beautiful and unique.

Red Cafe Homage
The completion is near for the R75/5 Red Cafe Homage bike. We are just powdering and chroming several important details that will further enhance the aesthetics of the bike. There are numerous machined details, undertaken by Tony, that mount and operate the Grimeca 4 Leading Shoe front brake, locate the GPS speedo, fit the handmade front and rear fenders, etc...

Another riding season passing finds several new develops in the DESC fraternity.
The C650GT has been ordered and is awaiting delivery from our favorite motorcycle dealer, Max BMW. We are anxious for it's arrival, testing it scooter capabilities on these beautiful, little traveled back roads found in our area. We shall report a full road test in the future.
We are also developing a BMW Cafe, 750cc twin, 4speed transmission which shall become a homage to my Mother, Agnes. It will have many custom details, mounts, fenders, wiring, seating, instrument, too many to list here. The completion date will be before the end of this year.
We will have many more club events next year, meanwhile plan your winter projects and future rides.

Another
Yes, it has been another year in passing. Our loose aggregation of riders have ventured near and far, especially during our Troy to Knoxville run in April of this year. Our brethren were assaulted by two days of heavy, almost hurricane winds and rain, but arrive unscathed at the rendezvous.
Our members have added new bikes, passed on a few favorites, and gaze, lustfully, at those to come. We are proud to have added a 2009 Triumph Bonneville and 1984 R65, and await the arrival of the new BMW Maxi Scooters, the C600 and C650GT. We do have an essential fondness of scooters, having ridden many miles all makes and will welcome the addition of the BMWs to the club.
In the spirit of Elvis, the Club, has now developed a scooter aid program, by which, members of modest income, can receive up to $200 of accessories when a bike/scooter is purchased. These accessories can include, gloves, helmets, tires, batteries, etc. So start you search while the days are short and cold.
Please contact the Gang of Five for further information and eligibility.
2012 coming soon, look for our rally in the Spring, at MAX BMW TROY in
celebration of the BMW Scooters.
Max BMW Troy is the official Dead Elvis Scooter Club dealer. They sell them, repair them and ride them.

Age of the Bike
The years find us pensive. We reflect upon our joy and sadness, our health and pain, of those we love and have gone. The quest for something permanent resides in everyone's soul. An item, a thought, an action, from us to others, which remain reminders of our time on this earth.
Motorcycles are ridden, used in the performance of the mundane or sublime. We get a gallon of milk, or journey to and fro with our friends and ourselves. The bike, the scooter, becomes more than two wheels and a motor. It transports the mind.
I have quested this winter, now in my 51st year, for bikes to cherish, share and pass on. I have found a 58 BMW R60, built in a city which was frequent by my mother and her father after the war. I He, my grandfather, was an enterprising man, opening a cafe south of Munich in which my mother and her sister worked for several years.
I was built in 1958.
They are gone. The bike remains. Hopes, dreams, aspirations are never too late to realize. Regret is hollow.
It is as simple as a scooter, a bike, focusing transport to the soul.

We compose our thoughts, during these snowy days, toward the coming Spring. The long, slow ride, which reaches beyond the tarmac, affords a communication that cannot be understood at speeds over 55mph. Local, twisting, intimate roads have always been the quest, the sustenance of the ride.
We at DESC, are now in the planning stages of our Motogiro race team, which will compete at local Motogiro USA events in 2010.
The Gang of Five will be meeting, in executive session, to formulate the scope and depth of the team, which will consist riding vintage Hondas and BMWs, 250ccs or less, manufactured on or before 1968.
Get ready to move, get ready to ride, get ready to Ride Life Slowly.

Resurection
We lift the canvas from our machines, the afternoon sun strengthening. Another year has come, arriving as a anticipated gift from the depths of winter.
We are gathering, waiting....
We often wait to long for action, filling our days with rote and routine. When one rides, the days are filled with the motion of life, the trigger of thought. Two wheeled machines offer a comfort to those alone, a challenge to those bored, a life for all who participate.
Get your bike ready, be it scooter or motorcycle and ride.

Dreams
The sun is at its lowest.
The snow and ice coat the branches of trees and our machines sit idle under tarps, in sheds, waiting.
We dream of the the K1200R, the Vstrom, BMW r65, Majesty and Burgman, cruising the winding, tree lined, car sparse, roads of Eastern NY, Western MA, Western CT and Southern VT.
We dream of Triumph Bobbers, seductive red Vespas, old, old vintage metal of bygone days.
Now is the time to act, sleep fading from our hearts, pursuing new objects of desires, which shall never be fulfilled.

Mod or Rocker
There was a time when one was identified by which mode of two wheeled travel utilized which resulted from the inception of the motor scooter. Two wheels, a motor, and step-thru, it has caused division amongst those who ride. This division has developed an ignorance of both modes of travel, fostering social stereotypes and myth.
The Dead Elvis Scooter Club is without this division. We shall be combining the best of both worlds into a riding, rocking and grooving club. We will offer a yearly gathering, complete with live music, sustenance and fun. We shall have a once monthly meeting, located throughout Troy-Cohoes area, by which we shall discuss, repair, gather, all things dealing with motorcycles and scooters.
We are a members only club and to become a member, one must be approved by the governing council, the "Gang of Five". We are not intolerant, and are open to suggestion. Look for out website and email contact soon.

The Club
We have been wandering. A loose association of diverse individuals, who ride on two wheels and a motor, who have now decided to settle down, within a club, the Dead Elvis Scooter Club, Troy NY.
We come from many different backgrounds and locations, but most of us are now settle in the Capital District of New York State. We all share an interest and love of these machines. We know how they work and operate and love sharing this knowledge with our friends. Those daring few of us have ridden miles throughout the Northeast and Southern USA, touring many miles solo or with a small group.
We shall develop a meeting schedule, event programs, associate memberships, music and party venues. We shall discuss, investigate, write, sing and play.
Come join us.
